We are excited for Qijia Yu to join us in the lab as the newest post-doctoral fellow! Qi just completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge in the lab of Dr. Nicholas Ktistakis at the Babraham Institute. Qi was awarded a prestigious Cambridge International Scholarship from University of Cambridge in order to complete his doctoral work there. As a graduate student, Qi worked on identifying novel regulators of autophagosome formation via genome-wide siRNA screens followed by validation using a combination of genome editing and live cell imaging techniques. Qi will be working on projects related to NCOA4 and cellular iron homeostasis as well as a new project for the lab on the interaction between ionizing radiation and antigen presentation. We welcome to the newest member of the lab, Ajami Gikandi! Ajami will be working as a Research Technician in order to support our ongoing work on pancreatic cancer. Ajami recently graduated from Connecticut College with a major in Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology where he was also a star soccer player, winning the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award and earning NESAC All-Academic Team honors. His most recent lab experience was interning in the lab of Dr. Elda Grabocka at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center of Thomas Jefferson University where he assisted in work in the Grabocka lab on the role of stress adaptation mechanisms in RAS-driven cancers. Welcome Ajami! |
